Don't piss off the broadcasters
It's not often a sports news item makes me sit up and take notice, but this certainly has.
German rider on the Tour De France tests positive for banned substance. German TV stations pull the plug on coverage. A timely reminder that broadcasters hold the real power in sport - something the NZRU and its SANZAR partners might like to reflect on.

Respect to the German broadcaster for taking such a strong stance on doping in sports however they refuse to cover it next year surely the TdF will find another broadcaster. If the TdF couldn't find a replacement I'm sure they could look at broadcasting it themselves to Germany using the internet. Gone are the days that broadcasters can step on everyone else.
It's the people running the event that still have control (for now). Take a look at what is happening with NFL coverage, much to the disgust of many newspapers.

I am looking forward to your rant about some AB's out on the town Pre-Bledisloe...
Good to see Weepu left out of the AB's, (for Wellingtons Air NZ cup campaign =D )
