    Back In the Saddle

Ah well, the house deposit will have to wait. Two and a half hours of ordinary cards and I'm out of the biggest poker tournament I've ever played, in 288th place. Out of 869 entrants, it sounds alright but with money paid to the top 70, I was never in the hunt. To console myself, I entered a 20 quid tourney that had 76 players and wound up 3rd, getting a 170 quid payday. So it wasn't an entirely wasted morning.

Thanks to Sri Lanka, I'm back in the saddle punting-wise. Had a feeling they would do alright at Sydney (pitch conditions are paramount to cricket games and even though this Sydney wicket was not the usual turner it can be, you can't change a block of dirt into a Brett Lee benefit overnight), and they didn't disappoint. Still haven't recovered the losses from earlier this month but I'm more than halfway there. Once Oz stop pissing around with their team selections and put their A team out, I still expect them to wipe the floor with whoever they meet in the finals.

India 236-2 against Pakistan's 588. Boy am I glad I haven't got involved. Still time for a result but I'm not putting any money on it.

Now it's quarter-finals time at the Oz open (tennis), I'll start trading these matches (with the exception of matches involving Federer, unless he plays Nalbandian). Haven't watched as much as I would have liked but enough to give me half a clue what's going on. Look forward to the women's semis which should be Sharapova v Henin-H, and Mauresmo v Hingis/Clijsters. If anyone has a tape of the Sharapova / Hantuchova match can they please send me a copy (so I can add it to my porn collection). Cheers.
